We arrived in Cape Town at 11 am local time. By the time we had sorted out the hire car and made our way to our accommodation in Camps Bay we only had a brief window of opportunity in the afternoon to explore locally and to find our feet.
We had a very warm welcome from our host Merryl (wife of OC Steve Wyatt who is off in South Korea reporting on the Winter Olympics) which included a sundowner (which was exactly that, as we saw a most beautiful sunset out at sea from their beautiful home in Camps Bay) as we sipped a wonderful local gin.
