We started the day with an optional dawn walk around the casa rural. This was a very nice way to start our last day.

I was slow off the mark and missed a good opportunity of decent shots of an Iberian grey shrike and a bee eater posing on the same tree.
After the walk we headed off to Medellin. This trip proved very popular. The trip south was just over 30 minutes.
The village of Medellin is famous for its Roman theatre and castle but, philistine I might be, we made the most of the birding opportunities by wandering along the banks of the river watching the swifts, pallid and common, the big colony of house martins beneath the bridge and hoping for penduline tits.
We had a fabulous view of a western swamphen with chicks and, as well as the usual large birds, others saw a great reed warbler and heard a golden oriole.
