An hour to kill on The Downs this morning. Jackdaws, a Goldfinch, a Robin and Peregrines at a distance (poor quality photos with prey on the far side of the gorge). Great views of male passing food to female mid-flight but I was not skilful enough or quick enough to get photos.Thousands and thousands of gulls on the grass all over that side of The Downs.
Forest of Dean
Mandarin Ducks and an obliging Nuthatch at Nagshead. More Mandarin Ducks and a Little Grebe at Cannop Ponds.
Not much opportunity for birding recently but pleased to see male and female Peregrine on the far side of Avon Gorge today. The prey is a pigeon I think. If only they had come as close as the Jackdaw!
Grey Wagtails, Dipper, Jay and Kingfisher (male)
First walk for Wendy through Snuff Mills as part of her rehab.
Only Grey Wagtails and a Dipper (and a couple of butterflies).
So pleased that Wendy made a circuit of Eastville Park this morning.
Not much chance for photography; Great Tits and the wonderful Grey Heron (might be common but so magnificent) and a Wood Pigeon in the blossom.
